On my honor

Article Abstract:

People learn honesty and trustworthiness because these behaviors are not something humans are born with, as shown in a study of two-year olds. Almost everyone knows of somebody who has profited from dishonesty. It is surprising that more people are not dishonest. However, living morally gives people a purpose to live and many believe that after death they will be held accountable for their actions. The insurance industry exists simply to improve people's quality of life and therefore its agents should hold themselves to a high moral standard.
