Pink Slips for Troublemakers: Employees Fight the Firing Squad
Article Abstract:
The powers and authority of management are undergoing evolutionary changes. The work place is now experiencing changes in employee rights and a say in continued employment. Participative management represents a voluntary change. Two other changes in management's unilateral power are worker representation on the board and the concept of employment as an implied contract. In retaliation against continuing acceptance, management is protecting itself when it wishes to dismiss an employee. Companies are searching for alternative plans to protect themselves when they fire an employee.

The double jeopardy of sexual harassment
Article Abstract:
The Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill controversy has resulted in increased sensitivity regarding sexual harassment. Part of the problem is definition, since existing laws are unsatisfactory on this score. EEOC guidelines distinguish quid pro quo and 'hostile environment' harassment. A corporate policy on sexual harassment is not enough. Training sessions for both men and women are important, since many do not realize that behaviors that were once common are unacceptable today.
