Docking doctors? AMA eyes discipline for physicians giving 'false' testimony
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Ass'n (AMA) is considering a plan to discipline doctors who mislead juries by testifying to the truth of 'junk' science, whether intentionally or through incompetence. The American Trial Lawyers Ass'n, however, views the plan as an attempt to favor defendants, especially in medical malpractice suits. Since to them it closing out the market for experts on controversial subjects, trial lawyers view the plan as a restraint of trade.

One eye on the camera: headline-makers debate how much publicity is good for a case
Article Abstract:
The ABA Section of Litigation sponsored a program in New York City that discussed the effects of media coverage on litigation and the roles of lawyers and judges in relation to media coverage. Defense and plaintiff attorneys agreed that media coverage can be positive when attorneys do not excessively pursue media exposure. Judges indicated that they have wide discretion in controlling how the media affects their courtrooms.
