Twilight of defense law
Article Abstract:
Attacks on the criminal defense bar threaten the freedoms of all citizens and will, if unchallenged, eventually criminalize the defense bar. The Dept of Justice has exempted US attorneys and their assistants from the bar's disciplinary rules, and Congress hopes to outlaw currently legitimate acts by defense lawyers, such as unknowingly making false statements on a client's behalf. The War on Drugs replicates the moral problems of Vietnam, and will soon menace freedoms and ideals we all hold dear.

Feingold Amendment raises interpretation issues; the law seeks to bar defense contractors from making some domestic incentive payments
Article Abstract:
The Feingold amendment seeks to outlaw incentive payments by US defense contractors for the purchase of foreign goods and services which help contractors satisfy foreign offset obligations. The amendment applied to the Arms Export Control Act and was signed into law as part of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act. Defense contractors should also look at applicable laws of foreign jurisdictions and other applicable US laws when planning offset programs.
