State aid reform: Some reflections on the need to revise the notice on guarantees
Article Abstract:
The Commission intends to go in for a comprehensive reform of EC State aid rules and among the texts which the Commission is planning to revise is its Notice on State aid in the form of guarantees. There are some flaws and shortfalls in the current Notice and so it is submitted that the Commission should produce a new text more in line with the fundamental principles of EC State aid law developed in the jurisprudence of the Community Courts.

Economic analysis and antitrust damages
Article Abstract:
Several economics-related issues in the theory of damages, especially in private antitrust cases, drawing lessons for Europe from US experience are considered. An overview of different rationales for such damages such as making the plaintiff whole, preventing unjust enrichment and incentives to private plaintiffs is provided.

Effective cartel enforcement in Europe

The net effective or expected liability of a representative modern international cartel in Europe is assessed. European Commission's intervention to control these corporate trusts is found to be inadequate.
