Sundstrand: a case study in transformation of cultural ethics
Article Abstract:
Whistleblowing, or the act of reporting employee misconduct to authorities within an organization, is seen to be effective in showing management's commitment in emphasizing ethical conduct. The whistleblowing program of Sunstrand Corp is used as a viable model. Sundstrand used the program since 1987 to early detect and correct illegal and harmful activities within the organization. To make the program work, the firm appointed a person, to whom all illegal actions will be reported. Also, Sundstrand made sure that all employees will abide by the new cultural elements and that employees are aware that the program is working.

The ethics and economics of patenting the human genome
Article Abstract:
Ethics can play an important role in influencing market-based development in the biotechnology industry. The values of ethics are disseminated to the market when ethicists discuss with doctors and biologists issues such as patents and modifications of the human genome. Successful dialogues between the ethicists and biotechnological industry managers and doctors can ensure that biotechnological research and development efforts are aimed toward improving humanity.
