Article Abstract:
Journalists and police in Albuquerque, NM, are in disagreement over whether police should impersonate journalists when working undercover. Police found impersonating journalists to be useful when they were trying to catch juvenile graffiti artists. Journalists argue that such impersonations endanger them and they are considering no longer using police-issued press credentials.

Article Abstract:
The use by law enforcement or intelligence gathering agencies of agents posing as reporters brings up several practical and ethical questions. The practice leads to distrust of legitimate reporters and often actually endangers them. Many journalists see the practice as a serious violation of their professional ethics.
