Facing the obstacle course
Article Abstract:
Two freelance investigative broadcast journalists narrate their experiences and offer insight into the potential obstacles for the freelancers. Several problems, such as difference in ethical standards between journalists and broadcast agencies and legal and monetary constraints, stand in the way of the freelancers. Some producers feel that acceptance of stories from freelancers will increase costs and demoralize existing staff. Several solutions, such as production of documentaries that meet the demands of the agencies and finding a sponsor for the efforts of freelancers, are provided.

Psyches and investigative work
Article Abstract:
An investigative journalist discusses how reporters on an investigation undergo extreme emotional experiences. They become over-sensitive and may identify with their subjects. This new sensitivity blocks the reality of the world outside, as the journalist becomes increasingly immersed into the story under investigation. The journalist may be too emotionally involved with the story, becoming angry and depressed, especially if the the journalist likes the subject or holds them in high esteem.
