Seeking truth in Croatia
Article Abstract:
The executive director of Investigative Reporters and Editors recalls her meeting with daring Croatian colleagues, who constantly battle governmental oppression in their quest to deliver the truth. Freedom of expression has eluded the Croatian press corps, despite the end of the war and the demise of Communism. Under the restricted conditions, young and conscientious journalists display an enthusiasm for ferreting out the truth in the guise of the covert art of writing. The Croatian journalists were optimistic about the future of balanced reportage in Croatia.
