Federal officials and media have Dialogue over secrecy
Article Abstract:
Government officials and journalists have been meeting in a series of discussions, called Dialogue, to talk about balancing the protection of national security with the public's right to know. The meetings discuss the way in which journalists can release intelligence information to the public so that it does not compromise futher intelligence gathering or the safety of Americans.

Ridge record on open government called 'mixed bag'
Article Abstract:
New Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge's information policy has been mixed. As governor of Pennsylvania, he denied requests for information which some claimed should have been legally available. However, he also made some attempts to provide greater access to government information. It is difficult to predict what his policy will be in his new position.

Court-ordered release of adjusted census data spawns debate over accuracy of original count
Article Abstract:
The US Census Bureau was forced to release its estimated census counts using statistical sampling by two court cases. The counts establish the the 2000 census undercounted by over 3 million people.
