War crimes: recent war atrocity stories recall investigate reporting milestones
Article Abstract:
A company of American soldiers had entered a South Vietnamese hamlet thinking that it harbored the enemy but some months later Lt. William L. Calley Jr. was charged with murdering 102 Vietnamese civilians in the hamlet, known as My Lai 4. Ron Ridenhour, a witness, wrote a detailed letter about the massacre and sent it to many American government officials and finally the Army opened an investigation, 13 months after the killings.

Making the writing golden: stories should be more than notebook dumping
Article Abstract:
Many people within IRE knew why skilled information gatherers were not always skilled stylists even if they were they often would have to rush into print or on the air. The reporters were frequently paired with editors who had no special writing skills or were too busy with daily tasks to devote sustained attention to projects.

Article Abstract:
The concept of writing a book is not an easy task, one way for journalists as well as freelancers is to use the material of the work they have already develop for other stories. The way they use this strategy and their approach to writing is described.
