Focusing visions and goals for opening space
Article Abstract:
President George W. Bush announced a long-term human and robotic program to explore the solar system, which inspires goals for returning to and establishing a permanent presence on the Moon by 2020 and then continuing with human exploration of Mars. The steps undertaken by the government and private sectors for achieving this space program and twenty-first century goals are presented.

The understanding of solar system and speculation about outer solar system that is home to billions and perhaps trillions of small worlds and cometary reservoir is described. A study on the shape, composition, size, geology, and mass of a Kuiper Belt Object (KBO) in the distant regions of the solar system is presented.
