Homeland Security Department details its $40 billion budget
Article Abstract:
The Bush administration has requested for a $40.2 billion budget for homeland security in fiscal 2005 that includes $33.8 billion in discretionary spending towards procurement and research while the remainder would be mandatory spending. This budget request which is a $3.6 billion increase over the 2004 enacted level includes funds to improve security along the country's land and sea borders and to protect the nation from biological attacks through the development and pre-purchase of medical countermeasures against doomsday agents.
