House panel slams Pentagon for poor troop protection
Article Abstract:
The House Appropriations Committee approved a bill that would provide $64.7 billion for defense, and proposed boosting procurement by a total of $372 million to be used to protect troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. A report that accompanied the bill accused the DoD of not providing adequate equipment for the troops. The report was especially critical of the Army.

If the Bush administration's $87 billion supplemental funding request is passed, O'Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt is expected to gain from it, as it is the only company that produces up-armored humvees.
