Journalists as playwrights

Donald Drake, assistant metro editor for narrative at 'The Philadelphia Inquirer' newspaper, believes that journalists must embrace literary methods to support the growth of journalism. Drake feels strongly that journalists should write more about dramatic events and processes. He also cautioned reporters about filling preconceived notions and stressed the importance of adopting a new vocabulary that supports stage terms when writing investigative stories.

The periodical will also continue publishing books on how journalists can utilize databases in investigative reporting. Moreover, the journal will sponsor boot camps and newsroom seminars for editors and news directors.

A journalist's yearning
Article Abstract:
Novels with journalists as their main characters are usually authored by real life journalists. The experiences acquired by the authors in the course of their work are incorporated into the main body of the novel. There are some simple rules that journalists should follow in order to be able to write novels. These rules include writing every day, always outlining and telling interesting stories.
