Jules Verne: Negotiating change in the nineteenth century
Article Abstract:
Two major aspects of the awareness and negotiation of change that Jules Verne exhibits in his 'Voyages Extraordinaires', the vast corpus of novel written over a forty-two year period from 1863 to 1905 are analyzed. One was his prediction that abuse of technology would lead to division and conflict, and the other was the extent to which Verne's preoccupation with scientific change impacted his concept of the novel.

Jules Verne's English translations
