M. D. runways: Troubled docs relocate to avoid sanctions; federal tracking found to be ineffective
Article Abstract:
An investigative reporter for The Washington Post investigated teaching hospitals and determined whether they made more medical mistakes, had less qualified doctors, and many more to know whether teaching hospitals are worse than the other hospitals. Nearly two-year examination found that many physicians with drug and alcohol abuse problems are allowed to keep practicing while their licenses are rarely checked.

Mountaintop removal: federal strip mining law ignored
Article Abstract:
Coal operators use massive explosives to blast apart hilltops in mountaintop removal in order to extract coal and leave the leftover rubble, dirt and rock that used to be mountains into nearby valleys, burying streams. This study helps to expose the coal industry abuses while using mountaintop extraction of coal.
