Article Abstract:
Correspondent Ron Laurenzo's experience of flying the Merlin helicopter of the British Royal Air Force has been described taking into account the complexities of manning the controls. The Merlin has a modern control system, advanced flat-panel displays and flies with agility despite its maximum takeoff weight of more than 32,000 pounds.
