DUMAND: neutrinos from beneath the ocean

Article Abstract:

The US Dept of Energy's $10 million Deep Underwater Muon And Neutrino Detector project will be used to find the source of cosmic rays in space. The system will be located in Hawaii and is expected to begin operation in late 1993.

The Super Kamiokande neutrino astrophysics research facility in Japan has made a number of interesting discoveries, including the finding that the mu-neutrino flavor has a non-zero rest mass.
