The King County medical examinerEs office collected US$1.5 million in return for selling brains harvested from deceased mentally ill people to the Stanley Medical Research Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, over a period of several months. Family members were unaware that the county was profiting from selling their dead relativesE brains, and many had not consented to the harvesting of the brains.

Two-fold investigation to track the information regarding pardons granted by the former Governor of South Dakota, Bill Janklow, is described. Janklow issued more than 200 pardons during his last eight years in office.
