No substantiated allegations
Article Abstract:
The allegations made against Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark during his term as supreme allied commander in Europe in the late 1990s were never substantiated by the Defense Department's inspector general (IG). Newsweek reported on this issue and cited unnamed sources who said Clark was fired as NATO commander after the 1999 Balkans war because his superiors, Army Gen. Hugh Shelton and former Defense Secretary William Cohen, felt that Clark was insubordinate during the Kosovo campaign.
