Open meetings violation may be grounds for recall
Article Abstract:
The Georgia Supreme Court has ruled that the public has grounds to recall public officials who violate the state's Open Meetings Act. Two county commissioners held five closed meetings. Registered voters and a citizens' organization applied for a recall petition, and the county sheriff sued, claiming the commissioners had violated the act. The court ruled they had grounds under the state's Recall Act, but disallowed the petition, stating there was not enough evidence that the commissioners had violated the law.

Judge rules most task force meetings open
Article Abstract:
A federal district court has ruled in Association of American Physicians & Surgeons v. Clinton that meetings of the presidential Task Force on National Health Care Reform must follow the Federal Advisory Committee Act and open its meetings. The court did, however, allow the Task Force's working groups to meet privately and allow decision-making meetings of the Task Force to be private.
