Newspaper wins right to see resumes, job applications for airport's top spots
Article Abstract:
The Louisiana Supreme Court held that job applications and resumes submitted for public employment are public records under the open records law. Therefore, the Court required the East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Council to release the resumes of all applicants for director of the Metro Airport. The Court denied that the applicants had a right to expect privacy when applying to a high-profile public position.

Selection committee must meet in public
Article Abstract:
The Montana Supreme Court ruled in Great Falls Tribune Co. v. Day that state committees involved in evaluating public contract proposals for prison construction must hold public meetings. The court stated records of the selection process were to be made public as well. The court also ruled a state law requiring no disclosure of contract proposals until after the execution of the contract unconstitutional.
