Article Abstract:
The IRE National Conference was held in Pheonix in June 1996 and international journalists from Puerto Rico, Sweden, the Philippines, Nigeria, Southeast Asia and Australia attended. The recurring theme was the common aim of journalists to expose the truth. There was some conflict during a roundtable discussion about the ways in which journalist may cooperate on investigations crossing national borders.

Reporting 'the other': a challenge on both sides of the border

Issues discussed concern the social aspects of investigative reporting in the Mexican-American border region. Topics addressed include improving media coverage of the 'other' or the Mexican immigrant experience in the US, as well as the economic aspects of immigration.
