The black belt
Article Abstract:
Different opinions regarding the "Black Belt", which is said to be a once-fertile crescent that sweeps through Alabama and other southern states are depicted. A 2002 project was proposed to examine Alabama's most troubled region and inform about the problems and indignities of the area so that it would give the people a reason to care and awaken them and point them in the direction of atonement.
