Twenty years on: 'A Literature of Their Own' revisited
Article Abstract:
The book 'A Literature of Their Own' was strongly criticized for its perceived anti-feminist ideals. For 20 years since it was first published, the novelist has been accused of being a separatist, theoretical, careerist, racist, traditional and politically correct. The most significant criticism came from Toril Moi who pointed out that the book's assumptions about the relationship between reality and literature and between literary evaluation and feminist politics were its main flaws.
