A leap into the future

Article Abstract:

Text information services are now extremely widely used in the UK, and have become a key advertising and communications tool. Teletext is now planning to take this a stage further with the launch of Digital Teletext. This will link pages in a new way, with key words highlighted. The new navigation system will be extremely easy to use, with the viewer using the remote control to move around the system by clicking at hyperlinks and hotspots.

A British success story

Article Abstract:

The Teletext on-screen information service which operates in the UK on Channel 4 and ITV has proved extremely successful. Set up in 1992 as a joint venture of Philips Electronics, Associated Newspapers and MVI, it now has an audience of more than 18 million adults a week, more than 3.5 million more than the BBC's text service. It has become a key marketing tool, especially for holidays, and is now used by many different sectors.
