GM's Cannes Bombshell

Article Abstract:

Granada Media Group's distribution unit Granada Media (GM) will include The Blonde Bombshell, a 2 x 120-minute film about the life of Diana Dors, on its slate of new drama offerings at Mipcom. Other new films that GM is expected to show at the Mipcom include Inspector Pitt Mysteries: The Cater Street Hangman, a 2 x 102-minute adaptation of the Anne Perry crime novel, and Grafters, an 8 x 50-minute production produced by Granada TV in cooperation with Coastal Productions. GM will also handle Lost For Love, a 1 x 90-minute comedy that stars Pete Postlethwaite and Dame Thora Hird.

Top UK distributors club together

Article Abstract:

United Kingdom's 12 biggest television program distributors have joined forces to create a new trade organization, the British Television Distributors' Association (BTDA), intended to initiate joint industry activities that would raise the image of British programs overseas. The group will likewise strive to improve the relationship between the distributors and the independent producers. The founding members of the BTDA include the leading UK sales companies, BBC Worldwide, Granada International, Carlton International, Itel and Channel 4 International.

'Robot Wars' will be one of three game shows on offer from Mentorn International at Mipcom. Others include 'Whose House', and 'Claim to Fame'. Similarly, the joint venture company Target, formed from Talkback Productions and Tiger Aspect, are offering ' Never Mind the Buzzcocks'; 'Creche Landing'; 'Knowing Me, Knowing You'; and 'They Think It's All Over'.
