Article Abstract:
ITN risk losing the contract of providing news to ITV. ITV plans to produce news in-house implies the employment of journalists who currently work for ITN and eventually taking over ITN as its news division. ITN would no longer be a source of independent news if it is taken over by ITV.

Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom government has approved ITV's planned acquisition of ITV. Under the deal, Carlton Communications and Granada Television will acquire sole ownership of ITN.
