Kermit Channel gets autumn launch

Article Abstract:

Hallmark Entertainment has partnered with Jim Henson Company to set up a 24-hour general family entertainment pay-TV service, the Kermit Channel. The new channel, which is a 50-50 joint venture between the two firms, will initially be available in Latin America and Asia starting September 1998. Programs that the new channel will run will be drawn mainly from Henson and Hallmark program libraries. Hermit Channel will be distributed by most international affiliates of Hallmark's 24-hour global pay-TV Channel, Hallmark Entertainment Network.

Drowned under: a sudden deluge of pay-TV launches in urban Australia means it is sink or swim time for the terrestrial neworks

Article Abstract:

There has been a deluge of new pay TV channels launched in Australia. Both Foxtel and Optus Vision are investing millions of dollars on their launches. The launch of so many pay TV channels will affect the networks although there is still believed to be a future for the commercial networks.
