Dumping Johnson: the media set the stage for the president's fall but misunderstood the movement that toppled him
Article Abstract:
Pres Lyndon B. Johnson's perceptions on the day he withdrew his attempt for the Democratic presidential nomination were paradoxically equal to those of the movement that helped to drive him out of office. Both Johnson and the so-called 'Dump Johnson' movement acknowledged that the president was the achilles' heel of the Vietnam War policy. Yet the news media, which set the stage for his fall, surprisingly failed to see the potency of an almost unified public hostility to Johnson and were thus astounded by his withdrawal.

A Web of sound: the fruitful convergence of radio, audio and the Internet
Article Abstract:
Many possibilities for significant change are created by the interplay of radio and the Internet. The propagation limitations imposed on radio broadcasting are eliminated by the Internet, and it may now be possible to shift towards a broad concept of audio information. New technology makes it possible for anybody to become an Internet broadcaster, and it will ultimately prove impossible to block or censor the transmission of sound over the Internet.
