Yorkshire, Meridian and HTV eye up stakes in ITN

Article Abstract:

Yorkshire-Tyne Tees Television, Meridian Broadcasting and HTV are innegotiations to reinvest in a stake in ITN. This follows expectations that Granada and Carltonwill have to dispose of their excess shares in ITN. Y-TTTV reported a post tax profit of 7.8million pounds sterling for the 15 months to end 1994 on turnover of 73.1 million poundssterling for the three months to end 1994. The company has increased its ITV advertisingrevenue and has solve its airtime over selling problems.

White Paper to offer 20-30 new digital channels

Article Abstract:

A government White Paper will make between 20 to 30 new digital channel available. An option is thought to be the allocation of channel 35 to the BBC which would allow it to create two digital TV services. The remaining frequency for digital TV will be divided into five UHF channels or multiplexes for which the government is thought to be inviting bids.
