A general model of dynamic labor demand
Article Abstract:
A model describing dynamic labor demand is developed and analyzed. The model assumes both fixed and quadratic variable costs of adjustment. Employers encounter both types of costs in evaluating the limits of employment opportunities based on quarterly data. Only fixed costs are vital in monthly data for worker employment. The variance in costs indicates the difficulty of making inferences from macroeconomic data.

A model of layoff, search and job choice and its estimation
Article Abstract:
The behavior of workers, whether or not they had prior job attachment, when searching for a job is analyzed using a labor market model where certain jobs have potential layoffs while others do not. It is shown that the wage at a prior job is a significant factor in a laid-off worker's optimal strategy.

Taxes, fringe benefits and faculty
Article Abstract:
The demand for benefits and wages is described using panel data on 1477 campuses. It is revealed that demand for benefits is elastic with respect to taxes and real income. Simulations also imply that the Tax Reform Act of 1986 helped reduce the demand for benefits.
