Can Forecasters Forecast Successfully? Evidence from UK Betting Markets

Article Abstract:

Although efficiency of UK professional racetrack forecasters showed pre-tax profit, it required high stakes to cover cost of accessing information. Thus, at conventional levels of acceptance, statistical tests of signficance could not be confirmed.
