Comparing Theories of Endogenous Protection: Bayesian Comparison of Tobit Models Using Gibbs Sampling Output. (Gibbs sampling method can be used to precisely perform Bayesian inference and model comparison)

Article Abstract:

Gibbs sampling method can be utilized to perform Bayesian inference and model comparison precisely and conveniently. However, the process requires nonstandard prior probability density functions, and that it cannot be traced by analytical means. Used in the analytical procedures were the 1983 tariff and non-tariff barrier data between the United States and 5 OECD members, namely Japan, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and France.

Optimal designs of discrete response experiments in contingent valuation studies

Article Abstract:

Optimal techniques for the estimation of mean and median willingness to pay and other model parameters are examined using logistic and probit regression in a discrete contingent valuation study. A study on the preservation of Swedish forests provides excellent examples of the effectivity of various designs and specifications, especially the use of sequential procedures.

The sensitivity analysis of applied general equilibrium models: completely randomized factorial sampling designs

Article Abstract:

The use of general equilibrium models in the evaluation of tax and trade policy issues has already gained wide acceptance. A statistical method, which considers uncertainty about key elasticities, is presented as a means of generating the population mean of the distribution of solution values from such models. The application of this method is also illustrated.
