Labor supply and investment in child quality: a study of Jewish and non-Jewish women: a reply
Article Abstract:
An analysis of research criticizing an earlier study on Jewish women's investment on their children's education and its corresponding effect on the labor supply is presented. Analysis shows that both a 1981 Census of Canada and a 1970 US census confirm the impact of child quality investment on Jewsih success. Jewish women have also exhibited greater labor supply levels than their Canadian counterparts when they have children at home.

The effect of the Medicaid program on welfare participation and labor supply
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate the impact of the US Medicaid program on labor supply and female family head welfare participation. The study assumes the availability of a proxy for medical care valuation benefits. Results show that the health program exhibits both positive- and negative-signed effects on labor supply and welfare participation. However, the impact is most felt among high medical expenditure groups.
