Organizational structure and expected output at nuclear power plants
Article Abstract:
A study on the relationship between organizational structure and operation and outage durations at US nuclear power plants empirically examines Masahiko Aoki's proposition that hierarchical control increases productivity in highly stable or highly uncertain situations and that horizontal coordination increases productivity in intermediate situations. Parameter estimates prove that less hierarchy is related to higher productivity over longer periods of operation.

The Information in the term structure: a non-parametric investigation
Article Abstract:
A nonparametric nearest-neighbor regression method was used to derive a nonlinear term structure model of US Treasury Bills. The approach provides superior results over traditional linear methods based on expectations theory because it exploits the information inherent in the interest rate spread to obtain a nonlinear specification of the spot rate. In addition, it takes into consideration non-normality in the error structure.

Market structure, uncertainty, and intrafirm diffusion: the case of optical scanners in grocery stores
Article Abstract:
The factors affecting the rate of intrafirm diffusion are identified through a study of data on the adoption of optical scanners by US grocery chains. Results show that new innovations (scanners) are adopted quickly by firms with larger market shares albeit diffusion is slower compared to firms with smaller market share and competitors who adopt the innovation after others.
