The real exchange rate, fiscal policy and the role of wealth: an analysis of equilibrium in a monetary union
Article Abstract:
Research was done to assess adjustment processes in a European monetary union (EMU) while focusing on permanent assymetric shocks which affect real exchange rates. The effect of assymetries as a possible source of tension in EMU were applied to the European economic setting. Factors of wealth and the real exchange rate were added to the analysis to further quantify such an effect on the union and on the adjustment process.

An econometric analysis of U.S. foreign direct investment
Article Abstract:
A mathematical model on foreign direct investment was constructed to establish the determinants for the level of US foreign direct investment since the 1970s. Results indicate that market size by level of GNP in the major seven Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries and the relative factor costs of labor and capital are important considerations in multinational firms' investment decisions.

Simulating the European economies under alternative monetary policy assumptions
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the effect of alternative monetary policy on economic stabilization within Europe. An OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) model was applied to the study. Findings show that the effect of policies related to the exchange rate mechanism varies with the nature of economic shocks. These shocks condition the choice of monetary policies on economic adjustment.
