Atlas and EDO combine forces for MCM proposal to US Navy

Article Abstract:

Atlas Elektronik (Bremen, Germany) has joined with EDO Corporation (New York, US) to introduce its mine countermeasures (MCM) system to the US Navy (USN). These two companies are planning to offer minehunting and minesweeping solutions for the modernization of the USN's specialized MCM vessels, for the MCM mission modules in the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) programme, and for the future projects designed to provide major surface combatants and amphibious ships with an organic MCM capability.

Rheinmetall evolves remote-controlled hummingbird mini-UAV for urban missions

Article Abstract:

Rheinmetall Defense Electronics, Bremen, Germany, is developing a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) mini-UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) for use in urban warfare missions. The 1.6 kg UAV, known as Kolibri (hummingbird) 60, is designed as a vehicle-based system, to be launched and recovered from armored vehicles such as Krauss-Maffel Wegmann's Fennek or Dingo or Rheinmetall Landsystem's Fuchs.
