Article Abstract:

Ericsson Saab Avionics is a firm jointly owned by Swedish firms Saab and Ericsson which specializes in head-up displays and multi-functional display systems. One of the firm's major contracts is to supply the electronic systems of the JAS-39 GRIPEN fighter plane. Aside from avionics, the firm also develops electrical and mechanical equipment for use in system-critical functions such as flight control.

'Spider' is the Swedish Air Force's new Command & Control System, StriC, at the heart of the Flygvapnet 2000 (FV 2000) 'web'. StriC is built for peacetime as well as times of crisis or war and contains a host of computers, telecommunications exchanges, modems, encryption equipment and more.
