Colombia forges ahead with counterfeit dollars

Article Abstract:

Forgers in the US and Germany, the producers of counterfeits dollars, use digital technology, scanners and laser jet printers as compared to Colombian counterfeits, which use lowtech approach producing high quality forged notes using hand-made plates and old-fashioned printing machines. The most important men in the forging team are the artist and the lithographer, who engraves printing plates and oversees printing.

Colombia pursues paramilitary peace deal

Article Abstract:

Colombia's right-wing paramilitaries entered demilitarization after Representatives of the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia-AUC) and government signed the 10-point Santa Fe de Ralito accord. There will be concentration zones where paramilitaries can gather for demobilization.

Colombia struggles to counter arms smuggling

A brief examination of the development of illegal Colombian arms trade and the government's attempts to end it is discussed. The countries involved in illegal smuggling of weapons include Central America, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, and the U.S. among others.
