Article Abstract:
The Ferghana Valley, running through Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, might become a future means for insecurity across the region due to poverty, state oppression and popular dissent. Soviet-era borders and radical Islamism have created an environment of instability and the repressive response of the region's governments has aggravated these issues, creating a strong undercurrent of anti-government sentiment and radicalism.
