Future scout and cavalry system/TRACER

Article Abstract:

The US and the UK has signed a memorandum of understanding covering the program definition, production and follow-on support for an armored scout reconnaissance vehicle. The vehicle is known in the US as the future scout and cavalry system (FSCS) while it is called the tactical reconnaissance armoured combat equipment requirement (TRACER) in the UK. Specifications for the vehicle require a medium caliber self-defense gun, but the main subsystem of the vehicle are its sensors. The sensors will feature optics with ranges far greater than what conventional sensors have. The scout and cavalry vehicle was also asked to have capabilities to locate and designate targets.
