Israel laments intelligence failings

Article Abstract:

The several committees appointed by the Israel Navy to probe different aspects of its INS Hanit being struck by an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM), off the coast of Beirut, during Operation 'Change Direction' on 14 July 2006 have established that the navy was unaware of the existence of ASCM threats in the region and therefore had not activated any of its defence systems. Senior Israel Defence Forces have expressed concerns that the Navy has not taken into account the existence of such missiles in Lebanon.
