Sky spies

Article Abstract:

NATO expects to field the most powerful intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance asset outside of the United States once its Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) program is in place, which is expected to be in seven years' time. The Transatlantic Industrial Proposed Solution (TIPS) offered by a consortium of US and European companies, which has won the AGS program competition, has a proposal, which if put together with NATO's Sentry aircraft should give the alliance the core battlespace intelligence it needs.

Streamlined support: Scattered Air Force units gathered under new wing

Article Abstract:

The 38th Combat Support Wing (CSW), based at Ramstein Air Base, Germany has taken command of the U.S. Air Force in Europe's (USAFE) smaller units, which are not a part of the command's large bases in Germany, Italy and England. This has helped in streamlining the geographically separated unit functions and has placed them under one wing commander.

NATO air power

Article Abstract:

The steps taken by NATO to realign itself to meet new challenges in the light of today's changing environment are presented. Its new power-projection mandate means that NATO must be able to position personnel and equipment outside Europe as alliance air forces will no longer be able to operate from their home bases.
