The Key Volunteer Network (KVN) is a system used by a spouse of a marine in the unit when communication directly is not available by providing a communication link between the command and their spouse. A brief description of Congressman J.C. Watts's difficulty in communicating with his wife is provided, which reveals that phones and the Internet are the best options for communication.

The program will train the individual Marine to become a creative thinker, as he constantly faces battlefield dilemmas.
