Western ranchers fed up with feds
Article Abstract:
The Rangeland Reforms 1994, along with other unpopular regulations, force ranchers away from their lands and endangers the relationship between the livestock and the range. Transferring water rights to the US government will force the private ranchers out of business. Putting the ownership of range improvements in federal hands will result in stewardship, less improvements and poor maintenance of current improvements. The reforms also put forth the flawed concept that centralized government can bring about environmental awareness by imposing national standards of rangeland management.

Finding a new 'Heimat' in the Wild West: Karl May and the German western of the 1960s
Article Abstract:
European imitations of the American western film genre originated from the success of 'Der Schatz im Silbersee' in 1962. Several films followed, all based on novels by Karl May. Their historical significance lie in their depiction of a generic utopian culture derived from the simplified perception of frontier culture popularized by American westerns. At the same time, they were also uniquely German in character because they were stylized variations of the 'Heimatfilme' or domestic film genre that had been popular in the 1950s.
