Howard Hawks: American gesture

Article Abstract:

Howard Hawks is a famous director of actors whose eye for talent has led him to discover very highly rated stars like Carole Lombard and John Wayne. Hawks films always stands apart from hundreds of other films because his actors form not only part and structure of a particular film but are the driving force and center of the film and his films are always direct in their method, linear in their unfolding, fluid, fast, and functional, rooted in contemporary America.

'I'm a Cansino': transformation, ethnicity, and authenticity in the construction of Rita Hayworth, American love goddess

Article Abstract:

Transformation of Margarita Carmen Cansino, the daughter of a Spanish dancer and an Irish-American show girl, into the American screen goddess Rita Hayworth, was an object of study. Her ethnic roots provided the basis for her eroticism, and her Latin heritage and manipulated good looks ensured her popularity with the American public. Her determination to become a star, diligence and heritage increased her popularity.
