The film Lost Highway is described as unfolding with the logic of a dream, which can be interpreted but never explained and it is punctuated by a series of occurrences that simply cannot have occurred. Lost Highway can be read as a cautionary tale of the resentment and violence inherent in any desire to regress into a nostalgic fantasy that attempts to refashion empirical reality according to idealized representations.

Cloaked classification: The misdirection film and generic duplicity
Article Abstract:
An argument is presented that films, which are termed as supernatural thrillers or a crime dramas are grouped according to their preexisting generic identities, as they are more appropriately recognized as constituents of 'misdirection' genre. It is suggested that something logical and stable is found just beyond the standard means of perception even though concepts such as 'truth and authenticity' are fragile.
