Mondial Designs criticizes author Edward J. Foster's use of outmoded Allison One speakers, and implies that Foster's Audio Precision tester is badly calibrated. Foster replies that both the Aragon 8008STs sent by Mondial tested alike, defends his speakers, and says the tester is self-calibrating.

Even highly-trained, experienced audio evaluators had serious, measurable lapses in aural acuity in a 13-week controlled experiment. The testing proved that initial, alert exposure, combined with direct side-by-side comparison formats, yields the most reliable aural performance.
